Students enrolled in applicable courses at Bitmaker General Assembly in Toronto or a resident of that jurisdiction‌ do not qualify for this offer. Ada Lovelace is often considered the world’s first computer programmer. Grace Hopper helped invent the computer compiler that led to the development of the COBOL programming language. Mae Jemison, an engineer, physician, and NASA astronaut, became the first African-American woman to travel in space.

Throughout history, women have played central roles in the advancement of STEM. Yet, the number of women in technical professions — particularly minority women — has steadily declined over the last few decades.*
GA has set out to help reverse that trend with See Her Excel.

“To me programming is more than an important practical art. It is also a gigantic undertaking in the foundations of knowledge.”
