Powered by GA and in partnership with UNCF, the General Assembly Developer Academy sponsored by American Express is a dynamic program offering free, world-class training for graduates of non-technical majors who have a genuine interest in technology and the motivation to succeed.

The Skills

The Skills

Accepted applicants will receive 12 weeks of full-time, in-person training. Learn to build scalable, full-stack web applications using programming languages like Java and React, and develop a strong foundation in front-end development.

1. Application

Fill out and submit the form above to receive our online application. This is your opportunity to show your passion for technology and your interest in the program.

2. Technical Assessment

After a successful interview, you’ll take a guided coding challenge to assess your technical knowledge and skill level going into the program.   

3. Screening

You’ll interview with GA’s Admissions team. We’ll discuss your analytical, communication, and leadership skills, as well as your interest in the program.

5. Rigorous Training

Once enrolled, you’re required to complete 30–40 hours of online pre-course work. The program dates are August 26–November 15, 2019. Class runs Monday–Friday from 9 a.m.–5 p.m.

4. Acceptance

If you pass steps 1–3, you’ll advance to the 12-week full-time training at GA’s New York City campus.

* Students must complete and pass the training program to be eligible for an interview. To pass, students must meet the academic and attendance requirements detailed in the Student Participation Contract. Those who are eligible to interview are not guaranteed a job with the company.

6. Job Interview 

Students who successfully complete the program will be eligible to interview for a junior engineering role at American Express.
